Volunteer Opportunities

Anyone interested in donating their time and talent to any of El Centrito's programs should contact the Program Administrator at 805 483-8685 ext 221.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

Calmecac Family Literacy Program

Program participants are age 3 to adult. This program brings together children and their parents in a learning environment. Volunteers will assist adults & their children in literacy activities & adult education. Bilingual Skills(English Spanish) prefered but not required. Volunteer time is Monday to Friday from 9am to 12pm.

School Readiness Program

Volunteers interact with preschool children by assisting with table activities (such as coloring, cutting and pasting), distributing snacks, and overseeing free play time. Anyone willing to share any other special talents is also welcome. Volunteer time is Monday to Friday 9am to 3pm.

Downtown Computer Lab

Program participants are age 5 to adult. Duties at the lab may include helping participants with simple operations of computers and some homework assistance. Volunteers at this drop-in center should have some knowledge of Windows XP and have a desire to work with people of all ages and various backgrounds. Volunteer time is Monday to Friday 2:30pm to 5:30pm.

Colonia Computer Lab

Program participants are age 5 to adult. Tasks will involve assisting youth with projects on Macintosh computers and homework help. Volunteers will also mentor participants and characterize a positive role image. Volunteer time is Monday to Friday 2:30pm to 5:30pm. The Colonia lab is located inside the Oxnard Recreational Center in La Colonia.
