| El Centrito Community Technology Centers El Centrito's drop-in computer labs enable youth of all ages and adults to take advantage of the latest computer technology. Most of the participants are not computer owners themselves and are economically disadvantaged. El Centrito operates two drop-in computer labs, the Downtown Lab and La Colonia Lab. Each lab is staffed with two employees including the Coordinator and a Lab Assistant. Staff assists youth with a variety of educational activities including basic computer operation, Internet navigation, homework assistance, tutoring and mentoring. Staff work hard to establish a personal relationship with all the youth and adults as well as the community to bridge together computer technology with those who need and will benefit from it. Each drop-in lab averages 30 participants per day. Each participant is allowed the use of one computer for a maximum of one hour. Over 60 educational software programs and the Internet are accessible at each lab. Both labs have SAT software to prepare high school students for the university entrance exam. Downtown Computer LabThe downtown technology center is located in room 114 at the Old Oxnard High School.
